A Kind of Apology
His final apology
was a squat ugly creature.
It sat on the curb and made
odd sounds -
butbutbut and ififif -
that made her angry, besides
it wouldn't sit still and it
refused
to look her in the eyes. She
couldn't take to it or trust
it so she left it out in
the cold
but it wouldn't die.
